• The Biggest Mistake In Building Affiliate Marketing Websites

Every day, I browse the web, and I see hundreds of mistakes that people make in building affiliate marketing websites. However, the biggest problem that I see is not having a clear focus. I see blogs and websites every day that make me want to cringe.

Now, what do I mean by clear focus? If you look around, you have probably seen what I am talking about, without putting your finger on what is wrong. They look terrible to me, and from talking to people, they see it too. Have you ever gone to a website that has 8 or 9 or even 10 banner ads, all for different products, and sometimes not even targeted to a specific niche?

You may think I am exagerating here, but i am not. I actually saw one today that I counted 12 banner ads on one page. They were advertising everything from webhosting to make money online to video games. The site looked like complete garbage. And some people wonder why their sites don't make money. The only reason I didn't hit the back button, is because I wanted to count the ads on the page. There was even 2 different opt in boxes for different "freebie" products.

And how was the content on the site? There was more text on the banners than on the page itself.

Building affiliate websites takes work. You need to target a specific niche, and only have one or two ads on the page. If you just have to put two ads, make sure they are for the same product.

Now, I have heard the excuse "I want to give people a choice". What you fail to realize is that you are confusing your readers, and they won't click on your ads. You need valuable content that people want to read, and preferably such good content that they want to share it with all of their friends. When you hit that, magic will happen. People talk about viral marketing , and creating viral content. It does not matter if it is an article, a video, or a report you are giving away. What makes something go viral is that it is so good that people have to tell others about it.

You are not going to get that kind of a response to a site with nothing but banner ads slammed up on a page and thrown out there for someone to find. So, how do you start building affiliate websites that work? By writing good quality content, and sharing that content with others.

It does not matter what niche you are in, if you provide good content, people will find your site. If you don't you have largely wasted your time, and that of the few visitors you will get. Learn how to build a real affiliate marketing business today, and you will find the success that you deserve.
